Mr. Avinash Gupta (CA) donating to the Endowment Fund of his alma mater, 5th December'23

A huge accomplishment for the University of Delhi as 8 donors gathered at the Vice Regal Lodge, on 5th December’23, to contribute to the Endowment Fund of the University. This gathering included alumni, former faculty members, businessmen and professionals. With their spirit of “giving back” they have become an inspiration for all. 

We thank Prof. Raj Nangia (Former Faculty, Laxmibai College), Mr. Suraj Kandoi, Ms. Megha Gupta, Mr. Vinod Kumar Garg (Businessman), Mr. Vinod Kumar Gupta (Businessman), CA Avinash Gupta (Chartered Accountant), Mr. Jagdish Lal Sehgal (Former Bureaucrat), and Mr. Sanjay Rawal, for their philanthropic spirit.

The University as well as the Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to the donors for their generous support. The vision and guidance of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh has been the driving force behind this achievement.

Prof. Madhu Vij donating to the Endowment of the University of Delhi, 30th October'23

A huge accomplishment for the University of Delhi as 11 donors gathered at the Vice Regal Lodge, on 27th October’23, to contribute to the Endowment Fund of the University. This gathering included former as well as current faculty members, businessmen and professionals. With their spirit of “giving back” they have become an inspiration for all.

And with this donor’s meet, we are proud to share that the University of Delhi Foundation has raised more than 1 Crore rupees, in a short span of 6 months. Another significant milestone in the University of Delhi's journey unfolded when the University witnessed a collaborative effort involving generous contributors, including Mr. Kuldip Bhardwaj, his wife Mrs. Sunita Bhardwaj, Prof. Anand Mittal, Prof Sushma Arora, and Mr. Satish Gupta who are all dedicated alumni, former faculty of the University and members of the business community. Their collective commitment was directed towards bolstering the University's Endowment Fund, a pivotal initiative to enhance the institution's long-term prospects. The University of Delhi, in unison with its Foundation, extends its heartfelt appreciation for the invaluable support received. These contributions are poised to have a transformative impact on the institution, contributing to its sustained growth and betterment.

The gathering witnessed the esteemed presence of key dignitaries, including the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Yogesh Singh, Registrar, Dr. Vikas Gupta, Director South Campus, Prof. Shri Prakash Singh, Dean of Colleges, Prof. Balram Pani and Director Prof. Ashutosh Bhardwaj. Alongside them, was the University of Delhi Foundation team, comprising CEO Prof. Anil Kumar, COO Dr. Geetanjali Kala, Fundraising Coordinator Prof. Mahesh Chand Gupta, Community Manager Ayushi Sethi, and Relationship Manager Sparsh Sethi, united in a collaborative endeavour. This concerted effort exemplifies a shared dedication to advancing education and illuminating a brighter future for the University of Delhi.

Aamchi DU: Celebrating the Legacy of University of Delhi in Mumbai

2nd September 2023

LIC presents 'Aamchi DU,' a grand celebration of the University of Delhi's rich legacy, took place in Mumbai on September 2nd, 2023. This momentous occasion brought together esteemed alumni, faculty, and friends of the University at the Taj Lands End Hotel in Bandra. The event was made even more special by the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, who graced the gathering with his esteemed presence.

'Aamchi DU,' presented by LIC, where you could feel the echoes of University of Delhi’s storied history, was more than just a mere alumni meet; it was a vibrant confluence of the University’s past, present and future. Distinguished alumni including the renowned filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, accomplished individuals like Shreya Poonja and Sohini Rohra, and respected figures such as Mr. Rajesh Sanan, Mr. Niket Kaushik, Mrs. Idzes Kundan, Mr. Pramod Aggrarwal, and Mr. Radheshyam Sharma, were all in attendance. Their shared experiences and successes formed the heart of this gathering, reaffirming the enduring bonds that the University of Delhi has created. The Foundation thanked Prof. Mahesh Chand Gupta and Mr. Kuldip Bhardwaj for their unending support in the organisation of the Alumni Meet.

Adding a touch of artistic brilliance to the evening, students from the esteemed Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune showcased their talent through a captivating performance. This interplay of nostalgia, cultural enrichment, and academic excellence underscored the event's significance. The event's success was made possible by the generous support of its sponsors. LIC, as the title sponsor, lent its support and prestige to the event, elevating it to new heights. Tata Power, Sandmartin, and Hostbooks, as branding sponsors, played a pivotal role in ensuring the event's success and visibility.

Donor's Meet at the Vice Regal Lodge, 24th August 2023

Another significant milestone for the University of Delhi occurred when Prof. Mahesh Chand Gupta, former professor of commerce at Dyal Singh College, successfully organised a coalition of four generous contributors, including alumni and members of the business community, to contribute to the University's Endowment Fund. The University of Delhi and its Foundation express their heartfelt gratitude for this invaluable support, which will contribute to the ongoing betterment of the institution. The Foundation holds great admiration for the donor's humanitarian and philanthropic efforts.

Donor's Meet at the Vice Regal Lodge, 21st July 2023

On another notable occasion, the University of Delhi, received contributions from the University's alumni, former faculty members, and the business community. The group was led by Prof. Mahesh Chand Gupta, a former faculty with more than four decades of teaching experience at Dyal Singh College, University of Delhi. They generously contributed to the University's Endowment Fund, and both the University of Delhi and the Foundation are elated to have received their support, which aims to enhance the University's overall quality. The Foundation expresses its profound gratitude for their compassionate and philanthropic gestures.

This gathering was graced by the presence of Honourable Vice Chancellor Professor Yogesh Singh, Dr. Vikas Gupta, the Registrar of DU, Professor Shri Prakash Singh, the Director of South Campus, Professor Balram Pani, the Dean of Colleges, and key members of the University of Delhi Foundation team, including the CEO Professor Anil Kumar, the COO, Dr. Geetanjali Kala, the Community Manager, Ayushi Sethi, and the Relationship Manager Sparsh Sethi.

First Donor's Meet at the Vice Regal Lodge, 12th July 2023

The University of Delhi Foundation was pleased to host a group of nine individuals from the alumni, former faculty and business community, who came together to contribute to the Endowment Fund of the University. The group was led by Prof. Mahesh Chand Gupta, a former faculty with more than four decades of teaching experience at Dyal Singh College, University of Delhi. 

The generous donors are already associated with many cultural organisations which work for the betterment of the society. By donating to the Endowment Fund, they are supporting the University in reaching new heights. Through the Endowment Fund, the University aims to become a global top-tier University and holds the vision of providing the best resources, such as enhanced infrastructure, cutting-edge research facilities, scholarship opportunities, start-up incubation support and more, to its current and future students.

The meet was attended by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Yogesh Singh; Director South Campus, Prof. Shri Prakash Singh; Dean of Colleges, Prof. Balram Pani; along with the team of the University of Delhi Foundation - CEO, Prof. Anil Kumar; COO, Dr. Geetanjali Kala; Executive Officer, Dr. Narendra Nigam and Community Manager, Ayushi Sethi.

Valedictory Ceremony of the Centenary Celebrations

Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi with Hon'ble Vice Chancellor of University of Delhi Prof. Yogesh Singh, Multipurpose Stadium, University of Delhi, 30th June 2023

The University of Delhi organised its Valedictory event of Centenary Celebration on 30th June, 2023, at the Multipurpose Hall of the University of Delhi Sports Complex. The event took place in the auspicious presence of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Union Minister of Education Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, and the Vice Cahncellor Prof. Yogesh Singh. The event also revisited the memorable presence of its illustrious alumni and former faculty. The exuberance on their faces reflected the cherished memories of their university days. 

Despite the obliviousness of the people around him, Prime Minister Modi exhibited a humble gesture when he chose to take the Delhi Metro to the university, allowing him to reminisce about the past. During his journey, he took the opportunity to engage with students, reliving the simplicity of life through their interactions. On his arrival, he caught the gaze of a college-led exhibition, demonstrating the voyage of 100 Years. 

The program sparked up with an exquisite melody of Hindustani Shastriya Sangeet which was presented by the Faculty of Music and Fine Arts.  Further, the Prime Minister virtually laid the foundation stone of the Faculty of Technology, Computer Centre and Academic Block to be constructed in the North campus of University of Delhi. He also released Commemorative Centenary Volume - a compilation of the Centenary Celebrations, Logo Book- logo of University of Delhi and its colleges, and Aura- 100 years of University of Delhi. A short film was also presented, reflecting the vibrant and dynamic history of the University.

Prime Minister Modi while addressing the individuals present there, revisited his university days. He asserted the fact that the university is celebrating its centenary year when the nation is living the moments of 75 years of independence ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’. The coexistence of both makes it more jubilant for the nation. The University of Delhi is following the footsteps of India’s ancient universities such as Nalanda and Takshashila  which have had a notable imprint on Indian culture and education. The University of Delhi has also played a prestigious role in nation building. When India was emerging from the shackles of Colonial Rule, the University of Delhi made its significant contributions in enriching education. The Prime Minister also made a remarkable statement that it is not just a university but a movement which moves forward carrying the century long history of revolution. 

The Valedictory Ceremony of the University of Delhi's Centenary Celebration was a momentous occasion that brought together esteemed dignitaries, cherished alumni, and the vibrant academic community. With the presence of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and other eminent personalities, the event celebrated not only the University's illustrious past but also its promising future. The foundation stone-laying ceremony and the release of commemorative volumes showcased the University's commitment to continued growth and excellence in education and research. The event stood as a witness to the rich heritage and enduring legacy of the University of Delhi, inspiring generations to come and leaving a mark on India's cultural and educational landscape.

Former Faculty at the Centenary Year Meet at Convention Hall, Vice Regal Lodge, 15th June 2023

On June 15, 2023, as part of the Centenary Year Celebrations, the University of Delhi hosted the Former Faculty Meet at the Convention Hall, Vice Regal Lodge. The event was presided over by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Yogesh Singh, with the esteemed presence of former Hon’ble Governor of Assam and former professor at Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, as the Chief Guest.

During the event, Prof. Yogesh Singh extended his heartfelt congratulations and recognition to the former faculty for their unwavering commitment and significant contributions to the University's legacy. He shared his vision for the University, highlighting the appointment and promotion of thousands of teachers and hundreds of non-teaching staff, as well as ongoing construction projects for educational infrastructure and faculties. Prof. Yogesh Singh dedicated these remarkable achievements to both current and former faculty members.

Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, the Chief Guest, regaled the audience with captivating anecdotes and fond memories from his own days at the University. He emphasised that the University's prestigious reputation, coupled with its outstanding academic offerings, has made it the top choice for higher education in our nation. 

During the event, Mrs. Marjorie Fernandes (Dept. of Economics, JDMC) and Dr. Seema Gupta (Dept. of Commerce) generously made donations to the Endowment Fund of the University, symbolising their deep appreciation for the institution. Whether as teachers, students, or non-teaching staff, the University has positively influenced countless lives. The event was a resounding success, further strengthening the bonds between former faculty members and the University.

Centenary Alumni Meet of University of Delhi, 21st April 2023

On April 21, 2023, the University of Delhi held its inaugural Centenary Alumni Meet at the Convention Hall, Vice Regal Lodge. The gathering was presided over by the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor of the University of Delhi, Prof. Yogesh Singh, with the esteemed presence of Hon'ble Union Minister, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, as the Chief Guest. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for alumni to reconnect and reminisce about their days at the University.

During this event, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri officially launched the University of Delhi Foundation. Prof. Yogesh Singh also took a moment to reflect on the University's journey and highlighted its remarkable growth over the past century. He encouraged all alumni to contribute to the Endowment Fund of the University of Delhi, emphasising their role in its continued success.

Alumni expressed their delight at returning to their alma mater and underscored the University of Delhi's significant contribution to the nation's development. They noted that the university's appeal continues to attract exceptional students and educators who choose it for their educational and professional pursuits. Those from the 70s and 80s batches particularly enjoyed reconnecting with former colleagues and friends at the event.
